OK GROW! at Meteor Camp NYC 2016

OK GROW! at Meteor Camp NYC 2016

OK GROW! had a big weekend in New York City, with a 4 hour Meteor/React workshop on Friday, panel appearances, and a talk on testing in Meteor by Robert Dickert.

The free 4-hour workshop proved very popular, and we were unfortunately limited to accepting only about a third of the people who applied. We had every level of developer present, but everyone found a way to get something out of the workshop. From one student: “I totally valued the course and learned a lot.” We did too, and we really appreciated the students’ can-do attitude and willingness to help each other.

Discussion panels covered the fast-moving world of Meteor, Apollo, and all things JavaScript. Here, a panel discusses the challenges of migrating to the new world of Meteor 1.3 and modules.

Robert Dickert’s talk on testing covered how to create a simple test harness that includes end-to-end and blazing fast unit tests. It generated some interest in developing testing best practices in Meteor, and the discussion is ongoing. Look for a future blog post on the topic.

It was a privilege to take part in the camp, and we at OK GROW! would like to send a personal thanks to Alim Gafar and Adrian Lanning, whose tireless efforts made the camp such a success. Kudos!
