OK GROW! & MaRS Host 2014 Lean Startup Conference Toronto!
In collaboration with MaRS we hosted a successful live stream of the Lean Startup Conference 2014 at the MaRS Discovery District on December 11th and 12th.
With over 100 participants attending, the day-long event contained a nice package of entertaining and educational talks on lean from a number of entrepreneurs.
The event started with my keynote on “Starting From Lean (its easier than you think)”.
MY talk translated lean methods into more relatable terms like keepin’ it real and checking yourself (before wrecking yourself) and then uncovered some helpful methods for increasing sucess in young ventures.
Some of my highlights were hammering home the notion of idea validation as it relates to product development and doing things that don’t scale in the very early stages of your company.
After my keynote talk I had a blast as the moderator for an exciting panel of start-up CEO’s consisting of Bryn Jones from Pod, Derek Szeto from Wirkn, Lily Tse from Think Dirty and Karen Ritcey from SilverDart Learning.
Shortly after the panel the conference went live on-air and MaRS began the stream!
Many participants stuck it out until 9PM on the 11th to enjoy the wealth of knowledge from some of the worlds top lean experts.
The final day of the conference boasted many of the same attendees from the first day and a number of new faces. After a short intro by Jennifer Maron at MaRS the talks from San Fran began and ran until about 9PM. I was there all night hanging out and chatting everything lean with aspiring entrepreneurs and attendees.
What a spectacular event! We hope to be back next year throwing an even bigger and better Lean Conference Toronto.
Big thanks to MaRS and its people for helping smooth all the operations for the day.
